Thursday Thirteen #3

Thirteen Things I love about having a large family:

1. My kids entertain each other
2. Hand-me-down clothes
3. I can identify with a lot of different ages of parents
4. The comments (“are they all yours?” “Don’t you know what causes that?!?” etc., which also irritates me no end)
5. The kids are a LOT of FUN!
6. I love kids…the more, the merrier!
7. They bring home lots of friends, which means MORE KIDS!!
8. They do housework!
9. Ditto on laundry.
10. And cooking.
11. They take care of each other.
12. Built-in babysitters.
13. I’m gonna have a TON of grandkids!!

:) I couldn't imagine 6...but I hope to have more. I only have 2 (they are a year apart) and people say "Don't you know what causes that?"

I just don't get it.

I only have 3 kids, but I love your list anyway!

I bet you get a ton of hugs and kisses every day too! :)

Well, I wanted four children. My husband didn't really want any; so we compromised and had three. ha ha. We love them and are so glad we worked so hard raising them. One is married and two are still in college. Yes. The grandkids are another great blessing. You should have a lot. (There were six in my family too, and we are still close.)

My wife has 5 sisters and 3 brothers. They're all over the place now - Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arizona. Thanks to the Internet and the size of the family, no one EVER has the chance to feel lonely or isolated. Which I think, having come from a family that had just my sister and me for kids, is just the coolest thing. And my three sons have more cousins than you can shake a stick at. And the cousins are all close. Which is also cool. Gotta love large families.

Yay! Big family! I used to dream of having 12 children. Now that I'm in my 30s and still don't have any...ah well!

Never knew there was an Abbeville,SC. Thanks for visiting my Cajun Names!

I can totally relate! I have 5 brothers and a sister -- we're also 6! You are one great mom. Kudos for raising them all.

Tell me how you get them to do housework and laundry and I'll see if I can apply some of the techniques to my husband.

Its good your kids entertain each other. All the siblings I've known in my life never did anything but fight.

I give you credit. My husband's grandmother has 6 girls, and you should hear some of the stories she tells me. I have four and that's plenty, so I can relate to your list, and even the one about the looks, as if having two kids was plenty, why should I want more?? I LOVE having this many, as you said, The MORE the MERRIER, and the work, but the key is everyone helps out! :)

Great list!! I think my favorite (in my home as well) is the fact that they help with the housework. Happy TT!

Okay, I was on the fence for having #2...now I'm thinking it may be worth it purely for the laundry factor ;)

So cute. I totally envy you all those kids. How fun. I wish I had another one to diffuse the two I have when they spend too much time together.

Six? Wow!
Your kids are so lucky to have a mom like you.
You ought to have a crown next Mothers Day :)
Thanks for stopping in at my TT

Yes you will have a ton of grandkids - I have 5 from 2 children - so I guess that gives you at least 15! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will come back and submit a recipe for my National Soup Month Contest. There is a great prize! Blessings, Cricket

I love it. If you want to have a dozen it's no bodies business but you and hubbies. I have two set of aunts and uncles that had a dozen each. We had such a great time at family get-togethers. Have a great TT. :)

6 kids...good for you! Grandchildren are great because you get to send them home when they get cranky. You should have about 18..lol Happy TT

Be careful about #13. I'm the oldest of 26 grandkids and my grandma is always tapped out at Christmas.

I don't have tons of kids, but I am the neighborhood mom. All the kids come and hang out over here. LOL!

Happy TT!

A ton of grandkids someday. Now that's the best thing! Although I must agree on the part about them entertaining and taking care of each other being helpful, too.

Beautiful. You know, I was never very "maternally" minded before I had my three kids, and when we decided to stop at 3 I felt comfortable with that decision. I've never had those twinges around babies that a lot of other women talk about having. But I DO sometimes have twinges around larger families!

I had a friend (childless, which made her an expert, naturally) who was very against the idea of having any more than two children because she was convinced any more than that wouldn't get enough attention from Mom and Dad. What I realize now that she completely didn't grasp is that it's about a FAMILY, not about parents and kids. What my children give to each other is so awe-inspiring to me.

I'm SO with you on this list, although I'm one shy compared to you. (Which is okay, since the baby isn't even a year old yet. We'll see what happens.) I love finding other mothers that actually enjoy their children. :)
