Thursday Thirteen #30: Getting ready for Back to School

Thirteen Things about getting ready to send kids back to school:

1. We have 33 days until school starts.

2. Shopping must be done...school supplies, clothes, shoes, musical instruments.

3. Before shopping, we have to make sure there are working backpacks, clothes must be tried on, supplies must be inventoried, and lists made.

4. We have to figure out where the $$ is going to come from to pay for this.

5. We have uniform rentals to pay for, for Marching Band and Concert Band.

6. We have to get through two weeks of Band Camp.

7. The house still needs to stay clean.

8. 99 more meals must be cooked, served, consumed and cleaned up from.

9. Approximately 100 more loads of laundry must be sorted, washed, folded and put away.

10. There are teachers to meet...in three different schools, for 5 different students.

11. There are *only* 33 more days to spend playing outside with friends.

12. Library books must be returned (TODAY!!).

13. I only have 33 more days to enjoy having my chidren home with me....before my life gets overly hectic again...

I remember those days. I'm homeschooling this year though, so my back to school list will be a little different.
I invested in LL bean back packs for my kids because I was tired of replacing them every year..and sometimes twice a year..LL bean guarantees their backpacks for life (if they break you send them in and they fix them) and my kids have had theirs for 3 years and nothing has broken..not a zipper, nothing. It was well worth the investment for us. :-)

I usually can't wait for school to start, but this year I'm tutoring them over the summer, and we are NOT ready. Not at all.

I am so not ready to send my son back to school. It has been such a fun summer and he is going into first grade...the big time where I lose all control to his peers.

But you're not counting or anything... Ha! :)

As the father of seven, I can identify with this list. Although most of mine are grown up now.

I remember those days well. I actually miss them. The excitement of the first day of school and hearing everything my children had to say. It was a hectic time however over way too soon.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Thanks for stopping by yesterday!

I see from your list that you are a fellow band mom. I can SOOOO relate to your list. I'm actually the Band Booster President this year so I have my own "to do" list plus getting SS ready. ~sigh~
