My 24 year old son...Oh, my, how dumb can people be? My 24 year old son just graduated from Officer Candidate School and is volunteering for the Rangers so he can go to "where the action is". When he graduated from Basic Training a VietNam vet stopped him on the street and thanked him for serving "our country", my son was so proud to be in the Army and to be thanked for his service. We live in a city with a National Guard Camp and an Air Force Base and I try to thank every uniformed person that I see in town for their service to "our country". You tell your husband we really appreciate his service and I really appreciate you for the sacrifice that you make every time someone asks you a dumb question about your husband's service.SD Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03522811899532903912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281344898981250011.post-87309653371598088572008-02-16T23:18:00.000-05:002008-02-16T23:18:00.000-05:00Some people just don't think.I can't imagine what ...Some people just don't think.

I can't imagine what it would be like to be a spouse of someone that gets deployed. I was single when I served, I guess I figured it would be easier, plus I was pretty much a kid, right? No career for me.

Now my brothers, on the other hand, are both career Air Force and would't change a thing. Except maybe fewer trips to Afghanistan, where one is right now.Roger Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01831602215904873587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281344898981250011.post-11772398032699960712008-02-16T20:02:00.000-05:002008-02-16T20:02:00.000-05:00I guess you never know what someone is going thru ...I guess you never know what someone is going thru until you've been in their shoes. I think people for the most part have good intentions but if they're anything like me, they stumble over trying to find the words to show compassion or empathy.

Thank you for being a wife who gives her husband up so he can serve my country. I don't take our boys for granted. Or their families!

Thanks for coming by my blog today. There is a great community of bloggers that are always there to support.

Have a great one!Tinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16011454066532594607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281344898981250011.post-39953246492808531562008-02-16T18:27:00.000-05:002008-02-16T18:27:00.000-05:00Oh Laura, I'm laughing so hard at some of the resp...Oh Laura, I'm laughing so hard at some of the responses, they're so perfect! It's a shame that more people don't engage their brains before opening their mouths.

And I definitely love #14 (He's doing his job and he's a badass.) You're darn skippy. ;)Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08026901741592239194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281344898981250011.post-30756274958122862702008-02-16T14:54:00.000-05:002008-02-16T14:54:00.000-05:00When I first had my twins, there were similar sayi...When I first had my twins, there were similar sayings, as I'm sure you've heard them all having six kids, that totally got on my nerves. No, no one who hasn't been exactly in our shoes, your shoes, knows what it's like and shouldn't pretend to know. I think people sometimes don't know what to say, but in those cases, they shouldn't say anything. And yes, they are fighting over there to KEEP it over there and fighting for our right to say ignorant things. So very true. I enjoyed this post. And could you tell your husband thank you?Forgetfulonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07895803172098820967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2281344898981250011.post-27273747615592056672008-02-16T13:39:00.000-05:002008-02-16T13:39:00.000-05:00People say such goofy things!
